In Memory of Savarisch! Three Early Wagner Works in a Special Set! The set includes three early Wagner works by Wolfgang Sawallisch, the famous German conductor who passed away on February 22, 2013! In 1983, the 100th anniversary of Wagner's death, he performed all of Wagner's operas at the Bavarian State Opera, and his three rare operas, "The Fairies," "Love Prohibited," and "Rienzi," were the talk of the town. These three operas were recorded live, first "The Fairies" and then "Love Forbidden" and "Rienzi" were released by ORFEO a short time later. It is a pleasure to say that all are excellent performances by Sawallisch and the excellent orchestra and choir of the Bavarian State Opera. The singers are also big names. In addition to Kurt Moll, the young Cheryl Stauder, June Andersson, and Jan-Hendrik Roterink sing in "The Fairy.
