Heir to French pianism. Jean-Paul Gasparyan, winner of the Thierry Schertz Prize at the 2020 Gstaad Festival, is back with his first Debussy album on the naive label! Of Armenian and Serbian descent, Gasparyan was born in France in 1995. He was trained by world-class pianists such as Aldo Ciccolini, Jacques Louvier, Michel Belov, and Michel Dalbert at the Paris Conservatory. Chopin: Ballades, Polonaise de Hero, etc. (EVCD-059), Rachmaninoff: Piano Sonata No. 2 (revised 1931), etc. (EVCD-085) on the Claves label, and Rachmaninoff: Piano Concerto No. 2 & Babadjanyan: "Ballade of Heroes" (50-3004) on the Claves label, and is highly acclaimed for his strong technique and rich musicality. Debussy by Gasparyan, an heir of French pianism, captivates with his delicate touch and unique narrative style.The "Preludes, Vol. 1" and "Prints" show a surprising depth that belies the fact that he is in his twenties, and Debussy's "Rondo in Spring" (for solo piano arranged by Gasparyan), which he dedicated to his wife Emma, is performed with superb virtuosity and superb rendering.
