Juke/19

Description:

The legendary NO WAVE, the most important band in the history of Japanese avant-garde music, JUKE/19, is currently touring with a large-scale solo exhibition at the National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo, the first since the "Zen-kei Exhibition" until the third phase in February, and the artist Shinro Ohtake, who was working before starting his career as an artist, is currently working on the analogization project of all works of the band. His music unit is JUKE/19. JUKE/19. is a rare band that was the first to respond to "NO NEW YORK" in a vivid way, and to create a work of art. Between 1979 and 1982, they released a total of four LPs and one single, which disintegrated after a few shows. After that, Shinro Ohtake began his career as an artist. The band's entire oeuvre has only been reissued on CD once in the 1990s, and it is a terrible loss to Japanese music and art that the band has not yet been reevaluated. This is a project to reissue all the recordings of this rare band in analog form, jointly supervised by Manabu Yuasa and Enban. The entire collection has been intensely mastered for analog by Taku Unami, and all are presented in a special new binding. The liner is a commentary by Manabu Yuasa, a retrospective by Shinro Ohtake, and as much of the text written at the time and accompanying materials as possible have been reproduced. It was an artist's book produced to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the birth of French artist Marcel Duchamp, and was planned and produced by Youbisha. The theme was "A day in the life of Marcel Duchamp staying in a European hotel," and the members of JUKE/19. who had already stopped their activities, reunited and recorded this book for the first time in five years. This was the first time that a theme had been established and produced first, and it became the only total concept album of JUKE/19. It is a highly accomplished masterpiece, a collage of field recordings and band performances, and although it has been previously released on CD, this is the first time it has been released on analog LP.The packaging is the most radical of all the reissue projects to date, with the entire surface and even the inside made of mirror sheets, creating an intense "object" that is sure to overwhelm anyone who touches the real thing, which is also a highly notable Otake work! It is the most shocking work in this series, including the binding.
