More than half of the 89 rare songs in this collection have never been released in the U.S. and will bring new discoveries and excitement to Elvis's 1970s recordings. Rare alternate studio versions of late classics such as "Separate Ways," widely considered the most autobiographical song Elvis ever recorded; "T-R-O-U-B -L-E," and "Burning Love," the 40th and final Top 10 single of his career. Discs 1&2 of this collection (also released as a 2 LP highlights set) feature new and unreleased mixes by four-time Grammy Award winner Matt Ross Spang, who strips away all the overdubs and brings fresh insight into the process.Opening with 17 classic songs recorded during Elvis' time at RCA Studio C, these mixes include Kris Kristofferson's "Memories of the Heart (For The Good Times)" (first released in a studio version in 1995), Paul Williams' Paul Williams' "Where Do I Go From Here" (from 1973's Fool (ELVIS)), Billy Swan's "I Can Help" (from 1975's Today), Don McLean's "And I Love You So" (also from Today). and others, offer a close glimpse of his seductive voice crossing paths with some of the leading songwriters of the era.
