Description:

Anita Rachvelishvili, a mezzo-soprano born in Tbilisi, Georgia, has been sought after by opera houses around the world, including the Met, Berlin, Vienna, and Paris, for her dramatic mezzo-soprano roles in Carmen, Delilah, Azucena, Amneris, and others. Her long-awaited debut album on Sony Classical, "Anita," is her first album. In 2007, Laciverishvili was a trainee at La Scala, and in 2009, she sang for the audition for the supporting role of Mercedes at La Scala, which caught the attention of Barenboim, who selected her for the lead role in "Carmen". This was truly a Cinderella story, and at 25 years old at the time, she was the youngest singer to sing the opening role at La Scala. She created a new legend of Carmen. Katia Buniatishvili, Lisa Batiashvili, and others are among the world-class musicians from Georgia who have emerged in recent years. This season, she will appear in important productions such as "Trovatore" at the Met, Paris Opera, and Deutsche Oper Berlin, "Carmen" in Munich and Dresden (debut), "Cavalleria Rusticana" at the Opera di Roma (role debut), and "Aida" at the Vienna State Opera (debut). She is scheduled to appear in such important performances asFor this album, she first sings "Carmen," the opera she came up with, and then selects arias from a variety of operas, from Verdi to Massenet, and sings the characters with mastery: the sass of Carmen, the sensuality of Delilah, the innocence of Welter, and the dramatism of Eboli. The spirited Giacomo Sagripanti, winner of the 2016 "Opera Prize," conducts the Italian RAI Symphony Orchestra, further enlivening Rachivelishvili's excellent singing. Sony Music.
