A collection of Lombardi's flute works by Roberto Fabriziani, one of the leading super virtuosos of the Italian flute world, who plays both the common flute and special winds! Luca Lombardi (1945-), a native of Rome, is one of Italy's most internationally known contemporary composers, having studied with Karlheinz Stockhausen, Bernd Alois Zimmermann and Paul Dessau. His flute compositions have been greatly influenced by Fabriciani, whom he met in the 1980s. The encounter between Lombardi and Fabriciani is a rich creative collaboration between composer and instrumentalist, comparable to Brahms and Mühlfeldt or Stockhausen and the Kontarsky brothers, in which the composer's voice is represented. This album contains a wide variety of his compositions for flute, including "Bagattella," "Nel vento, con Ariel," dedicated to Fabriziani, and "Echo de Syrinx," celebrating Fabriziani's 60th birthday.
