Description:
Maestro Frieder Bernius records Mendelssohn's String Sinfonia with the Bozen String Academy! The Bozen String Academy was founded in 1987 by the South Tyrol Music Society under the direction of conductor Georg Egger. The Academy is made up of musicians from Bozen (Bolzano), Italy, who have experience with famous orchestras in Italy and abroad. The orchestra usually performs without a conductor, but this time they have recorded Mendelssohn's three symphonies for strings with maestro Frieder Bernius. This is one of Mendelssohn's early masterpieces, with a strong influence of J.S. Bach and a high degree of counterpoint and harmony. Bernius is known as a master of German choral music, having founded the Stuttgart Chamber Choir in 1968, which has since performed many choral works. He has also led the Stuttgart Radio Symphony Orchestra, the North German Radio Symphony Orchestra, and other orchestras, and has established himself as a leading German choral musician. The Mendelssohn recorded here is his best work, and he performs it beautifully and finely, as if it were a choral work. King International
