A reissue of "Die Meistersinger" at the Salzburg Festival, where the Hairheim production celebrating Wagner's bicentennial was very well received!20 72683(BD):20.72684 (out of print). In 2013, the bicentennial of Richard Wagner's birth was celebrated with "Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg" at the Salzburg Festival. As you know, the Salzburg Festival is held at the same time as the Bayreuth Festival, so Wagner's operas are not usually performed at the Salzburg Festival. This was a special performance, and for that reason, it was a very strong performance. The most important thing was that the popular Norwegian director Stefan Hareheim's performance was very well received. Since "Die Meistersinger" is a story about the summer solstice, Hareheim has made "Die Meistersinger" into a Sachs-Wagner dream like "A Midsummer Night's Dream," and has succeeded in creating a very fantastic "Die Meistersinger" from a very different perspective. The sharp perspective made possible by the mysterious world of unreality was vividly brought to life, and here and there were funny scenes that brought laughter to the audience, bringing out the multifaceted charm of "Die Meistersinger" very skillfully. Michael Foret, who sang Beckmesser at Bayreuth in 2007 and 2008, sang Sachs in Salzburg to great acclaim for his rich singing and superb acting.Beckmesser is Markus Werba, who has many fans in Japan for his series of Mozart operas at Suntory Hall. Beckmesser is the second and beautifully voiced Beckmesser. Walter is Robert Sacca, who has been highly acclaimed in Wagner tenor roles in recent years. Although he is of Italian descent, he was born and raised in Germany. Effer is Anna Gabler, who also sang Effer at the Tokyo Spring Music Festival in April 2013; in June 2014, she sang the title role in R. Strauss' Arabella at the New National Theater. Pogner's Georg Zeppenfeldt is a German bass who has been very successful in the Semperoper in Dresden. The rest of the cast is very well rounded. The conductor is Daniele Gatti, who conducted Hareheim's production of "Parsifal" at Bayreuth from 2008 to 2011. As expected, the performance is well aware of the director's intentions.
