The eighth release on the ONYX label features a combination of Khachaturian's Violin Concerto and Shostakovich's String Quartet!The masterpiece by the great Armenian composer, dedicated to David Oistrakh, will also be played with pride! And from the most important post-Beethoven Quartet repertoire, Shostakovich's string quartets, the most popular of the 15 string quartets, No. 8 and No. 7, dedicated to his late wife Nina. The Ehnes Quartet will be joined by violinist Amy Schwartz Moretti, who performed with Ehnes in Chandos' Prokofiev (CHAN 10787), cellist Robert Demaine, who performed with Ehnes in Tchaikovsky's Sleeping Beauty (CHSA 5113), and musicians Kaori Osamu and Ryu Goto. The ensemble is made up of a strong lineup of next-generation musicians, including cellist Robert Demain, who performed with Kaori Muraji and Ryu Goto, and violist Richard (Yonge) O'Neill, who has made headlines with his collaborations with Kaori Muraji and Ryu Goto.
