The new Borodin Quartet, which has entered a new phase with the addition of new cellist Vladimir Balchin as Berlinsky's successor, will perform an all-Russian program featuring Borodin's "String Quartet No. 1" in the second volume of ONYX! The Borodin Quartet was given the name "Borodin (Memorial National)" by the former Soviet government.The new recording of Borodin's "String Quartet No. 1," with which the Borodin Quartet has been closely associated since its founding, is the best possible programming for the new Borodin Quartet's new departure! Also, Russian items such as Stravinsky's masterpiece "Concertino for String Quartet," which was later arranged for 12 instruments, and "No. 13," the last string quartet by the great Russian symphonist Myaskovsky, are quite attractive.
