Description:
This is the 74th release in the De Haske Festival Series, which has been well-received for its collection of new music from all genres, including original wind band works, pop music, and film music. The title piece, "Buffalo Bill," by Thierry Derouillet, is a song that takes us back to the 19th century American frontier, the world of the cowboy and the buffalo hunter. The work is full of strength, evoking images of 19th century American frontier and cowboys hunting buffalo. The piece was commissioned by the Kure Band of the Maritime Self-Defense Force to commemorate the 130th anniversary of the opening of the Kure Chinmoku, a heritage of Japan, and was performed for the first time in 2020 by the band under the direction of Captain Keikazu Ishida. Also included is "Fanfare 'Ai to Yume no Ouburutsu Machi'", a commissioned work for the 40th anniversary of the Shibuya Ward Youth Band, also composed by Kyoji Yagisawa. The album also includes new works by Philip Spark, Jan van der Roost, Thomas Doss, and others, and is sure to be an excellent choice for a wide range of music, from concerts to small mini-concerts.
