The group's ninth album, "La Compañía del Madrigale, Vol. 6" (GCD 922801), "La Responsorium" (GCD 922803), and "La Compañía del Madrigale, Vol. 3" (GCD 922806), features music by the heretical genius Jesúldo, whom the group has worked with frequently since its first recording. Carlo Gesualdo (1566-1613), an aristocrat of ecclesiastical descent, Duke of Venosa, Count of Conza, and a composer of genius whose life was marked by the bloody murder of his wife and her lover, as well as the solitary end of his life, published his second volume of five-voice madrigales in Ferrara in 1594, The second volume of his five-voice madrigale collection, published in Ferrara in 1594, is a more gentle approach, with less of the psychological distortion and suffering of the texts found in later madrigale collections, but the refinement of his sensitive music had already reached maturity.Adjunct tracks include many works by madrigale composers of the same period, such as Pomponio Nenna and Giovanni de Mac, who worked at the court of Jesualdo and influenced each other.
