American period instrument ensemble "Knight Music" recreates the glamorous salons of 19th century Vienna! Based in Philadelphia, USA, "Knight Music" is a period instrument ensemble formed to perform music of the Industrial Revolution period (1760-1825) on instruments of the time. Stephen Zorn, principal flutist of the Philadelphia Bach Collegium and NYS Baroque, and a double bass & viola da gamba player who has performed with Tempesta di Mare, the Philadelphia Bach Collegium, and Brandywine Baroque, Co-directed by Heather Miller Lardin, the group features some of America's finest old-time instrumentalists, including Rebecca Harris and Daniel Eller. Their debut album, Music for a Viennese Salon, is a re-creation of a musical production that took place at the Arnstein Palace in Vienna in October 1801.The program includes Krauss's gorgeous Flute Quintet, Dittersdorff's Duet with the unusual combination of viola and violone, and Johann Peter Zalomon (the promoter and violinist who commissioned Haydn's London Symphonies [Zalomon Set], including the "Astonishment"), who has arranged one of Haydn's most famous symphonies, "Astonishment," in the same orchestration as Krauss's Quintet. The "Astonishment", one of Haydn's most famous symphonies, arranged in the same form as the Krauss Quintet, is a contemporary re-creation of a glittering Viennese salon. Tokyo M-Plus
