Description:

The first appearance of the Eastman Wind Ensemble! The Eastman Wind Ensemble (EWE) was founded by Frederick Fennell (1914-2004), a giant star in the American music scene who pioneered the formation and style of wind ensembles (wind orchestra/brass band) today. Now celebrating its 60th anniversary, the prestigious wind ensemble from Rochester, USA, makes its first appearance on AVIE with "Stravinsky" under the direction of Mark Scatterday, who succeeded Donald Hunsberger as the fourth conductor of the group. ■The relationship between Stravinsky and the Eastman Wind Ensemble has been strong from the 20th century to the present, as Fennell once recorded "Symphony for Wind Instruments" and in 1966 the 83-year-old composer visited the Eastman School of Music to supervise a performance of his own work. The relationship between Stravinsky and the Eastman Wind Ensemble has been strong since the 20th century. The Eastman Wind Ensemble's new recording of Stravinsky's two works, "A Soldier's Tale" and "Wind Octet. In these small works, which demand individual skill, we hear the "present" of a prestigious American orchestra that has built the history of brass band music. A must-listen for all brass band fans!
