Mozart performed by the principal players of the LSO! Mozart was a pianist and violinist, but his wind works also showcase his music to the fullest. The principal players of the LSO have now recorded Mozart's solo wind concertos, concerto symphonies, and grand partitas. Every soloist is flawless, with naturalistic music and impeccable technique. The orchestra, which supports its colleagues playing in the same orchestra, is as dense as a chamber music ensemble. The conductor is Jaime Martin, a flutist and principal flutist with such renowned orchestras as the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and the London Philharmonic Orchestra, who has devoted himself to conducting since 2013, serving as principal conductor of the Yevre Symphony Orchestra and the Los Angeles Chamber Symphony Orchestra, and will be appointed principal conductor of the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra in 2022. This CD is a reminder of the LSO's unity and underlying strength. Please note that the "Gran Partita" on CD2 is identical to the recording released as LSO-5075 in 2017. Timothy Jones (horn) Born in London, Jones began playing the horn at the age of 15, joined the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra at 17, and then the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra before becoming principal with the LSO in 1986. Androu Marriner, clarinet, principal of the LSO from 1986 to 2019. He is active worldwide as an orchestral and soloist, chamber musician, and teacher. Olivier Stankiewicz (oboe), born in Nice, was appointed Principal of the LSO and Professor at the Royal Conservatory of Music in 2015, and won the first prize at the International Oboe Competition in Japan in 2012. He is actively involved in contemporary music. Juliana Koch (oboe) Principal of the LSO, winner of the 2017 Munich International Competition. She is a professor at the Royal Academy of Music. As a soloist, she has performed with the Deutsches Symphony Orchestra Berlin and the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra. As a guest principal, he has appeared with the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, Philadelphia Symphony Orchestra, and others.Chris Richards (clarinet) was appointed principal clarinet of the LSO in 2010. He is also a guest principal with other major orchestras in the UK. Rachel Gaff (bassoon) has been principal of the LSO since 1999. She studied at King's College Cambridge.
