The Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra's own label releases a remarkable disc! The Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra's self-produced label "RCO Live" releases a 2-CD set of Brahms concertos by Honorary Conductor Bernard Haitink with master conductors! Bernard Haitink conducted the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra for the first time in 1956, and has had a long relationship with the orchestra since then. In 1999, he was named Honorary Conductor of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra. This album features a live performance of the Brahms concerto conducted by him in 2010. The two concertos on this album are the Piano Concerto No. 1 with Emanuel Ax and the Violin Concerto with Frank Peter Zimmermann. The coupling, Schumann's Piano Quartet (session recorded in 2016), is performed by Emanuel Ax and the principal players of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra.This is another collaboration of the world's finest virtuosos. Although each is performed on a different day, the program has a sense of unity that smacks of the relationship between Schumann and Brahms, including Clara and Joachim. King International
