Description:
In the tradition of Bechawa's acclaimed Cavaradossi Vienna State Opera production, "Tosca," a masterpiece opera set in Rome, tells the tragic love story of the beautiful diva Tosca and the painter Cavaradossi with Puccini's sweet melodies and dramatic orchestra. This video is a live performance from June 2019 at the Vienna State Opera, directed by Margarete Waldmann, who has staged the opera over 600 times at the Vienna Opera since it was first presented in 1958 under Karajan's direction. The stage set and costumes by Nicolas Benoit, a master opera singer, are as dignified and subdued as a painting, and well represent the harsh and dramatic fate of the two singers. The cast features Armenian soprano Karine Babadjanian in the title role. Although this is her first performance in Vienna, she is a notable soprano who specializes in Puccini and sang impressively in "Madama Butterfly" at the New National Theatre. Cavaradossi was sung by Pyotr Bechawa, one of the finest tenors of our time. She sang beautifully and emotionally with an overwhelmingly beautiful and light voice, and her performance in "The Stars Shine Brightly" attracted all the attention of this stage and received a great ovation.The villain Scarpia is played by Carlos Alvarez, one of Spain's most famous singers.
