Bregenz Music Festival 2019 live premiere of Massenet's "Don Quichotte," an opera on the lake. Bregenz is located on the western edge of Austria, near the border between Germany and Switzerland. The festival, which was started in 1946 and funded by wealthy citizens, is a four-week production of spectacular operas combining traditional performing arts with state-of-the-art technology at the Theatre on the Lake, which is set on Lake Constance, as well as in adjacent halls. This production is "Don Quichotte," a masterpiece from Massenet's later years that was staged in 2019. Rarely performed in German-speaking countries, this will be the first time the opera has been presented at the Bregenz Festival. Don Quichotte is the name of Don Quixote. This piece includes famous scenes from Cervantes' original story. The main role of Don Quixote (Don Quixote) was written for the world-famous bass singer Fyodor Schaliapin, and since its premiere at the Teatro dell'Opera Monte Carlo in 1910, many famous basses have taken on the role of Don Quixote. This time Don Kichot will be played by Gabor Bretz, a Budapest-born bass.She began her international career in 2005 when she won the Maria Callas Grand Prix and is now one of Hungary's leading singers. Dulcinea is sung by Anna Goryachova from Russia. With her deep, lustrous voice and advanced technique, she exudes a refined sensuality. The production is directed by Mariam Clément. Originally from Paris, she is a popular director who has performed at the Theater an der Wien, the National Rhine Theater in Strasbourg, the Paris Opera, and the Glyndebourne Music Festival, and has been called upon around the world. She will also be making her Bregenz Festival debut by pulling down this production. King International
