Directed by the young British Frederick Wake-Walker, the production commemorates the 225th anniversary of Mozart's death. Wake-Walker is an up-and-coming director who gained attention at the 2014 Glyndebourne Festival for his impressive production of "The False Gardener," and this is his second time directing a large-scale opera. In honor of the legendary Italian director Giorgio Strelle, the armchair used in Strelle's masterpiece "The Marriage of Figaro" at the Paris Opera in 1973 will also be used in this production. In addition to veteran singers Carlos Alvarez, Diana Damrau, and Markus Verba, the cast features a superb lineup of up-and-coming young singers, including Marianne Crevassa, a hot French mezzo, and Golda Schultz, a soprano from South Africa.Damrau, who plays the Countess, captivates the audience with her incomparable expression in the aria "Where are the happy memories?
