Enrique "Mono" Villegas, a master pianist who should be mentioned alongside such masters as Astor Piazzolla and Cuchi Regisamon, and who was experimenting with the current Carlos Aguirre and others half a century ago. The most highly acclaimed of his works is this collection of Chopin pieces, recorded in 1967. Recorded in 1967 with Jorge Lopez Ruiz (bass) and Eduardo Casara (drums), it is considered one of the best recordings of Argentine jazz of the 1960s. It is said to be a masterpiece of Argentine jazz from the 1960s. It was a time when Villegas was at the height of his talent, and his ideas, which sometimes seem reckless, and his uninhibited piano playing, which emanates from his wide-ranging proficiency not only in jazz, are truly one-of-a-kind. Bojegas has been described as "able to play Ravel and Brahms with the swing of a Jelly Roll Morton or Thelonious Monk, and especially to interpret Chopin with swing," and this is the very reason for that. In the 1980s, it was relatively easy to obtain a cassette reissue of this album at record chain stores in Argentina. However, the sound quality was not so good.This reissue is mastered from the original tapes.
