Description:
René Leibowitz (1913-1972), a Polish Jewish composer, conductor, and music theorist, will celebrate his 100th birthday in 2013. Today, he is known exclusively for his high ability as a conductor, and was loved as a "solitary conductor" who gave unique interpretations of Beethoven with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, several operettas by Offenbach, Schoenberg, Mussorgsky, and other French works, etc. He is also known as the "Conductor of the Year. Leibowitz's own works are also included in the program. Unfortunately, Leibovitz's own works are not so well known, and his reputation is not yet firmly established, but DIVOX has released a gorgeous album of his works with a 150-page booklet. The Paul Sacher Foundation in Basel, with which Leibovitz had a close relationship, has also provided a large amount of material to help us delve into this little-known aspect of the artist's work.The CD2 track 14 features the remarkable singer Salome Kammer on vocals.
