Description:
Giovanni Martini, an outstanding Bolognese music theorist and composer, was also known to be an avid collector of music archives. After his death, the vast number of manuscripts, letters, and more than 200 pieces of iconographic materials left by Giovanni Martini were entrusted to his former student Stanislao Mattei, and after Mattei's death, Gaetano Gasparri, librarian at the Lyceum from 1855 to 1881, was entrusted with their care. The period ensemble Ensemble Ri Invagieti, founded in 2008 by Fabio Furnari, has selected eight pieces from the Gaspari Collection, including sonatas by Alessandro Scarlatti and Corelli, as well as world premiere recordings by composers of the period. The first recording was made in 1969. The vast musical heritage passed down from Martini to his pupil Mattei and then to Gasparri will be revealed here. Tokyo M-Plus
