Italian composer/pianist Giancarlo Simonacci, who studied piano with Carlo Zecchi at the Mozarteum Conservatory in Salzburg and composition with Aldo Clementi at the Accademia di Santa Cecilia, is now highly regarded for his interpretation of modern and contemporary music. A specialist in performing and recording various modern and contemporary works, Simonacci turned his attention to the music of Erik Satie, who caused a stir in the Western music of his time and is regarded as the founder of contemporary music aesthetics. By not limiting his recordings of Satie's music to simple "piano works," but by reconstructing his masterpieces such as "Gnocienne" as a "string quartet version," he has broadened the range of expression of Satie's music and brought us new perspectives and discoveries. The difference in sound between the "piano solo" and the "string quartet" version of "Gnosienne" is particularly interesting. Tokyo M-Plus
