The second "Meditatio" album by Reykjavík Skóla Cantorum is a collection of songs on the theme of "human thoughts and feelings about death" SACD Hybrid Edition. The Icelandic choral group Reykjavík Skola Cantorum (Skola Cantorum Chamber Choir) released an album entitled "Meditatio - Rest (Hvild)" (BIS SA-2200) in 2016. The album features a program of 20th- and 21st-century compositions that offer hope and solace in the deep sorrow of bereavement, sung at the annual All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day concerts. The new album "Meditatio II" will also be sung in a program of songs on the theme of "Human Thoughts and Feelings about Death. American composer Daniel Elder's "Elegy," with lyrics by Horace Lorenzo Trimm, is based on the bugle signal "Taps" (funeral bugle) played at funerals and memorial services of the United States Army. The "Our Last Day" by Heikkur Toumason, one of the most famous Icelandic composers who composed "The Fourth Song of Gvuzlún" (BIS-908), is based on a poem about "love, regret, separation, and death" by Nobel Prize winner for literature Hjaldór Laxness.Soula Martinsdóttir's "Lord, Take My Hand and Guide Me," based on the Icelandic translation by Sigurbjörn Einarsson of a German poem by Uli Hausmann. Where there is Mercy and Love" by Paul Mealer of Wales, based on lyrics of Gregorian chant. Lord, now you are" from the Gospel of Luke by Pawel Wukaszewski of Poland. Eric Whitaker's "Sleep. Works from the "Mass for the Dead" and the "Mass Ordinary" will also be sung. Ave Verum Corpus" by Ausl Gvdsjonsen of Iceland and Sigurður Sævarsson, a member of the Schola Cantorum, with the text of the communion hymn, "O blessed, born of the Virgin Mary, thou true body. Galina Grigorieva of Ukraine and Parto Uusberg of Estonia's "Into Heaven," based on the Latin antiphon "May the Angels Carry You to Heaven. Lux Eterna (Eternal Light)" by Skola Cantorum member Fraser Ingi Solstiensson and "Agnus Dei (Lamb of God)" by Björn Thorallensen. The "Sanctus: London" by Norwegian composer Ola Jairo, who lives in the United States, was written as a stand-alone piece.The Icelandic folk tunes "Nenen Boy" and "The Valley is Beautiful, Too" will be sung in arrangements by Hafsteinn Thorålsson and John Hahn, respectively.
