A sharp and sharp! The Norwegian quartet Engegård Quartet features works by Grieg, Sibelius, and Thommesen from the Nordic countries! The quartet's works include Grieg's String Quartet in G minor, Sibelius' String Quartet "Dear Voice," and Tommesen's String Quartet No. 4. This is the second recording of the Grieg quartet, but the second violin and cello are different from the original members of the quartet, so the ensemble has a new feel. Sibelius's "Dear Voice" is one of the most famous chamber works in Scandinavia, and the performance by this ensemble is so expressive that you may feel as if the temperature changes just by listening to it. This recording is a perfect one for the Sibelius Year. String Quartet No. 4 "FELIX REMIX" by Norwegian composer Tommesen is a new work based on Mendelssohn's String Quartet No. 4 in E minor, 2nd movement. It is an exciting work that shows a three-dimensional structure as if Mendelssohn were woven into the warp and Tommesen into the weft.The Engegård Quartet has released on the 2L label, known for its high-quality recordings, the first collection of "String Quartets" (Haydn in D major, Leif Sulberg, Grieg (2L53SACD)), the second collection (Beethoven's "Harp", Nurheim, Bartok No. 3 (2L 071SACD)), the third collection ( Haydn in G major, Bartok No. 5 (2L 091SACD)), and Collection 4 (Schubert's Rosamunde, Latche's Tale of Lead and Light, Britten's No. 2, and others (2L 105SABD)) have been released to high acclaim.
