Rysanov's long-awaited second edition of Bach's Suite includes the difficult piece No. 6! This is the definitive SACD hybrid disc of the viola version of Bach's cello suites. Maxim Lissanoff [Maxim Lissanoff] is a young viola player who has been highly praised by his fellow countryman and world-class viola player Yuri Bashmet. His latest album on the BIS label is the long-awaited release of the second edition of Bach's Cello Suites arranged for viola. The album contains Suite No. 2 in D minor, BWV1008, No. 3 in C major, BWV1009, and No. 6 in D major, BWV1012. In the first disc (BISSA1783), which contains Suite No. 1, No. 4, and No. 5, the viola player uses the so-called baroque style with very soft bowing, and in this disc, he plays comfortably for the audience with accurate interpretation of each piece. The disc also includes the 6th piece, which is extremely difficult to play on the viola.The original piece was written for a five-string instrument with the addition of an E string to the regular cello, so there are many technical difficulties in playing it on a four-string, such as the wide range and the effective use of heavy notes.
