Description:
SAGE MALONE was formed in Oslo, Norway in 1978 with Petter Norby on composition/vocals/flute/guitar, and disappeared after two albums and an EP/single in the 80's. The band's second and final album was released in 1986 on Norske Albumklassikere. Their second and final album, released in 1986, is now available for the first time on CD from Norske Albumklassikere in Norway for the first time in '23! The sound image of this album is closer to the synth-pop and new wave sound than their previous album, "WORDS", which was a hidden masterpiece of Scandinavian melodic rock. The title track, the first song on the album, is a bit different from the impression of the previous album, as it features a light beat with electric drums, a hard-sounding bass, and a somewhat humorous male chorus, but on the other hand, there are many scenes that inherit the lyricism of the previous album, such as 'Slander', which has a sad yet cool vocal, and 'Slander', which has a melancholy yet cool sound. On the other hand, there are many lyrical scenes inherited from the previous album, and 'Slander' has a very Canterbury Pop-like worldview with sad but cool vocals and piano and saxophone gently accompanying the vocals. The last song 'Lady Of A Lane' is an exception, as it was already written and recorded in the 70's. Flute is also featured here, conveying the same melodic rock with a cool Scandinavian air as the previous song. This is a smarter reworking of the style of the previous album, and like its predecessor, it is a hidden gem for melodic rock fans, combining the characteristics of both old British rock and 80s synth-pop! The master was newly remastered from the original master tape by Giert Claussen, the engineer who handles all of the label's works.
