Vivaldi and his contemporaries who supported the Italian Baroque! La Serenissima, a period ensemble that has performed mainly Vivaldi's works! Includes many masterpieces by Zavatelli, San Martini, Dallabaco, and others! When one wants to listen to the music of the Italian Baroque period, one can easily find Vivaldi's works. Vivaldi left behind so many works that it is easy to find a work by Vivaldi. However, it is not possible to meet the needs of churches and other musical institutions throughout Italy with only Vivaldi's works. For that purpose, many other composers' works were needed. This album features masterpieces from the Italian Baroque period by Zavatelli, San Martini, and Dallabaco, all of whom were active at the same time as Vivaldi, performed by the period ensemble La Serenissima. La Serenissima is a period ensemble founded in 1994 by Adrian Chandler, one of England's foremost Baroque violinists. The ensemble has won two Gramophone Awards for a series of world premiere recordings of unknown and rediscovered works by composers in and around 18th century Venice, led by Vivaldi the Red-Haired Priest.Guest musicians include Tabea Debs, a high-profile recorder player who won one of the most prestigious recorder competitions in 2019, the MOECK Competition, and was called a "charismatic virtuoso" by The Times.
