Description:
Poland-France-NetherlandsChamber music performance by three talented musicians from three different European countriesVincent Courtois, violinist from Poland, and Rohir Terderman, cellist from France, and Rohir Terderman from the Netherlands. This trio work brings together three musicians from different backgrounds in Europe. It all started in February 2018. The music director of the "Sounds of Europe Festival" in Breda, the Netherlands, entrusted pianist Telderman with the task of organizing a new ensemble. In response to this request, Terderman invited Baudich and Courtois to form this trio. Although they rehearsed one day before their debut at the festival, "it was fun from the start" (Telderman). Since then, the three have each had their own group, but they felt that "we should perform as a group of three. The recording took place in La Bui ssone, ECM's recording center in the south of France, in a studio for a little over two days. The eleven songs are a collection of songs that each have their own unique character formed from their own backgrounds.From the opening of Baudich's composition, which celebrates a sense of melancholy mixed with a sense of optimistic hope in a relaxed, drumless space, the world of the three members unfolds. This is a remarkable work to hear the chamber-like improvised music of the three, who also develop their own world of classical technique and jazz-like expression.
