Description:

Recorded on an exquisite replica of the famous Graf piano! This is the authentic sound of 19th century Vienna. Beautiful songs and exquisite modulations emerge like light in this astonishing Schubert's last great sonata! This is a collection of Schubert's works using an exquisite replica of the 1826 fortepiano made by Conrad Graf (1782-1851), a Viennese master craftsman who was considered the best fortepiano maker of his time and whose sound fascinated many famous composers. This replica was built by Christopher Clark (1947-), who was awarded the title of Living National Treasure by the French government, and is a very fine instrument that reflects the characteristics of the original perfectly. When fortepiano player Ayako Ito was a student at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp, she had the opportunity to play both the original and the replica of this instrument, and the excellence of the instrument made her dream of making a CD recording someday grow. This longed-for CD recording is also his debut for the Challenge Classics label. The performance, which brings out the full delicacy and power of the instruments, is in perfect harmony with the music of Schubert, a Viennese composer who lived and worked in Vienna. The instrument has four pedals (sustain pedal, unacorda, moderato, and bassoon), and the moderato pedal in particular produces a dreamy, soft tone that is especially effective when the moment calls for it.Ayako Ito] Born in Tokyo. Graduated from Toho Gakuen School of Music. She studied contemporary piano with Theodor Pallaschivesco in Paris and historical piano (fortepiano) with Jos van Immaasel at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Antwerp, Belgium, and graduated with highest honors in 2002 with a master's degree in fortepiano and chamber music. He was a visiting lecturer in the fortepiano department at his alma mater for three years. In order to perform keyboard works on the instrument that inspired composers and to rediscover its music, she has been giving recitals on the historical piano since 2000, including well-received performances with Anima Eterna Brücke and duos with Mr. Immaazel.
