Hear two concertos with a common structure performed live by the same soloist! The Violin Concerto No. 1, composed by Prokofiev during his Paris period and premiered in 1923, is coupled with Walton's Viola Concerto, which was written on the model of this piece and has a similar structure, and was premiered in 1929 with Hindemith playing solo. Both pieces are in three movements: slow, fast, and slow. Isabelle van Keulen, a famous Dutch woman player, plays both violins and violas. Another piece, Vaughan Williams' masterpiece "Aged Lark" is also included. The orchestra is unified by the prestigious North German Radio Symphony Orchestra, and it is interesting to compare the personalities of the three conductors.
