Description:
WAR's Greatest Hits, a representative of the 70's American West Coast funk scene, is now available in analog format! The definitive release of WAR's greatest hits, including "Why Can't We Be Friends?", "Low-Rider", "The World Is A Ghetto", "The Cisco Kid", and many others that are still loved today! WAR was formed in Long Beach, California in 1969 by Eric Burdon, formerly of the Animals, and quickly garnered attention with its diverse members and musicality that crossed genres such as soul, jazz, Latin, funk, R&B, and rock, breaking down racial barriers with their music and gaining a wide fan base. The group has been a driving force in the West Coast funk scene along with Tower of Power and Sly & the Family Stone, and despite several member changes, the group is still led by keyboardist Ronnie Jordan, who has supported the group since its inception. WAR's Greatest Hits album is now available in analog format! Originally released in the United States as a Black Friday 2020 limited edition on gold bronze colored vinyl, the album will finally be available worldwide. Included on the album are all the hits and important songs that are essential to their history and the history of the West Coast funk scene. These include crossover hits such as the horn-driven Chicago anthems "Low-Rider" and "The Cisco Kid," as well as songs with strong messages such as "Why Can't We Be Friends? In 2008, RHINO acquired WAR's catalog, resulting in the release of numerous original and greatest hits albums. In the 1990s, Smash Mouth covered "Why Can't We Be Friends," Beastie Boys, Offspring, and Stereo MC sampled "Low Rider," and DJs used the song for their material. The album is being reevaluated as music that can be appreciated from a modern perspective and is still suitable for the younger generation. This album is full of their charms!
