ECM has a tradition of solo bass albums in the past, and this is his first solo electric bass guitar work. Swedish-born and now based in Switzerland, BjornMeyer has created his own unique voice in the most diverse contexts with Persian harpist/singer Asita Hamidi, Swedish nyckelharpa player Johan Hedin, and Tunisian oud player Anouar Brahem, among others. and has created a unique voice in the most varied contexts. He was also a member of Nik Bartsch's Ronin for 10 years, his bass often being the lead instrument. This solo work is his experience in an acoustic space. This instrument is not technically acoustic, but it is deeply influenced by the characteristics of the space in which it is played. The different ways in which acoustics influence my compositions and improvisations are a constant source of surprise and inspiration. I have a second member in this solo project, and that's the room where I play! It's a room to play in! Meyer says.Recorded at Auditorio Stello Molo RSI in Lugano, the rich acoustics bring out the fine details of Meyer's subtle playing!
