Nina Simone's 1982 album for the small French label Carrere has been released on Verve. It is not so well known, but for Simon, it is very important. It is a little-known but very important work for Simon, and contains many personal songs. Among them are "I Sing Just To Know That I'm Alive," "I Was Just A Stupid Dog To Them," and the Gilbert O'Sullivan cover "Alone Again (Naturally)," an improvisation about the loss of his father. )." The song is very deep, and the lyrics are very beautiful.It was during this period of despair that "Fodder In Her Wings," one of the most famous songs of the decade, was born, and it was also during this time that Nina Simone herself made it one of her favorite studio albums, Nina Simone herself considers it one of her favorite studio albums. Except for one O'Sullivan cover, all of the songs are Simon's original compositions, performed with a band of African musicians she met in the Parisian music scene at that time.
