The 18th Chopin Competition Live in 2021! The 18th International Chopin Piano Competition held in October 2021 was postponed for a year due to the new corona virus, but the competition attracted extremely high level talent from all over the world. The competition was also boosted by the success of the Japanese contestants and the worldwide online distribution of the competition. Kyohei Antida won the second prize, tied with Alexander Gajev, from the series of live recordings of the competition (Blue Series) released on the independent label of the Polish National Chopin Institute (NIFC), the organizer of the competition, and climbed to the highest Japanese prize of all time, on a par with Mitsuko Uchida's prize in 1970. Kyohei Antida's live recording will also be released at last! This live recording is also a 2-CD set that covers the entire competition from the first qualifying round to the finals. Nocturnes and etudes from the first qualifying round, in which he achieved a delicate virtuoso quality. The second round of the competition featured a waltz with an impressively fast tempo and a rondo a la mazurka (rondo in the style of a mazurka) that shone with "brilliant" style. The third qualifying round features not only the Funeral Sonata and the Hero Polonaise, but also the rarely heard posthumous Largo (O God, Protect Poland).Kyohei Tanda has been extremely energetic, giving a variety of recitals, performing with orchestras, establishing his own orchestra and company, and running a music salon for young musicians.
