Description:
Sonliv Rasmussen of the Faroe Islands, winner of the "Nordic Music Commission (NOMUS) Prize" for composition, and Bo Holten of Denmark, internationally known as a choral conductor, have each composed a "Romance" for violin and piano in 2020, when people were forced to spend "lonely moments" because of COVID-19. He composed "Romance" for violin and piano. The first duo album "Violin and Piano Singing, Nordic Songs and Romances" by Helge Sloat and Ane Mette Stare features that new work by Rasmussen and Holten, as well as well-known songs and romances by Grieg, Sibelius, Svendsen and Steenhammar. Except for a few bars of the songs, which are played an octave higher, the music is performed according to the original scores. The Svensen and Steenhammer songs are performed in the composer's own "violin and piano version," while Sibelius' "Romance" for string orchestra is arranged by the German conductor Taupmann, to whom the composer paid tribute. Violinist Helge Sloat (b.1952) was born in Oslo. He studied with Maria Litka, Schandl Weg, and Dorothy Delay, and was concertmaster of the Odense Symphony Orchestra, Copenhagen Atelas Sinfonietta, and Lanas Chamber Orchestra in Denmark. For 25 years, he was a professor at the Department of Music at the University of Münster Wilhelms. She is currently teaching at the Danish Talent Academy "MGK" (Basic Music Course) in Copenhagen. Ane Mette Stare is a Danish pianist. Mainly a chamber musician, she played second piano in the "Concerto for two pianos" in Oleg Marchev's "Mendelssohn - Complete Works for Piano and Orchestra" released by Danacord. Gubaidulina - Complete Piano Works" (Kontrapunkt 32293) is his best-known recording as soloist. Slote and Stehr first performed together in 1995. In recent years, they have served together as artistic directors of the Music Festival. The album is produced by Morten Moeundsen, best known as the pianist of the Copenhagen Trio. The original poems (in Norwegian, Danish, and Swedish) that inspired Grieg and Sibelius are included in the booklet, along with English and German translations. Tokyo M-Plus
