Description:

Pianistic writing that makes full use of the fortepiano's functionality is brilliant! Enjoy Haydn's late keyboard music in depthThe piano sonatas of Haydn's late period were composed in a time when the piano became more common than the harpsichord, and also inspired by his encounter with the fortepiano in England at the end of the 18th century and the master pianist Therese Jansen Bartolozzi (to whom Haydn dedicated Sonatas Nos. 50-52). The content of the work became more "pianistic" and inspired. The last piano sonata, No. 52, is a work straight from Beethoven's lineage, and is a large work filled with both brilliant techniques and profound songs. It is also characterized by romantic modulations that make full use of the chromatic scale. The fortepiano performance of this piece shows that the composer used the full potential of the instrument. Michael Keener was born in Switzerland in 1950 and is a veteran harpsichordist who studied under Leonhardt in Amsterdam. In addition to being active as a soloist, he has performed with Il Giardino armonico, Il Gardellino, and others. King International
