Description:
Patricia Ann Cole, aka P.P. Arnold, stepped on British soil in the mid-1960s at the age of 19 as a member of the Ikettes, a group of backing dancers/singers in the Ike & Tina Turner box office. In London, she was taken with Mick Jagger, who immediately signed her to Andrew Loog Oldham's Immediately Immediately Records, which released her first album, FIRST LADY OF IMMEDIATE, in 1967, followed by two more albums in 1968. This album was followed by the 2nd ND released in 1968. Produced by Andrew Loug Rudham, it features great covers such as "As Tears Go By" by Mick & Keith, "God Only Knows" by the Beach Boys, "Yesterday" and "Eleanor Rigby" by the Beatles, and "To Love Somebody" by the Bee Gees. The Bee Gees' "To Love Somebody. Chip Taylor's "Angel Of The Morning" was also released as a single and was a big hit. It is also known that the song was widely popular in South Africa, where it became an anthem for black South Africans fighting against the apartheid regime.
