The Art Of Noise
Description:
The long-awaited first-ever vinyl release of their 1999 final album, where the sounds of French Impressionism collide with contemporary beats! ARTOFNOISE, the innovative group that elevated sampling technology to an art form and redrew the musical map of the 1980s. Led by the visionary producer Trevor Horn and featuring an elite lineup including Anne Dudley and Paul Morley, they fused industrial noise with pop melodies, and continue to exert an immeasurable influence on future generations with their intellectual playfulness that traverses contemporary music, jazz, and hip-hop with boundless freedom. As the final unreleased analog work to cap off their career, their fifth studio album, originally released in 1999, will finally be unveiled in 2026. Centered on the life of French composer Claude Debussy, this grand concept album layers drum and bass, opera, and narration to culminate as the "soundtrack to a movie that was never made." Featuring 17 tracks where diverse genres collide and harmonize around the single focal point of Debussy’s aesthetics—including “METAFORCE” with RAKIM’s sharp-edged rap, “DREAMING INCOLOUR” with operatic vocals soaring through the air, and “LA FLUTE DE PAN,” which deconstructs and reconstructs Debussy’s melodies. The latest mastering by master engineer Phil Kinrade breathes life into every single sound particle. The highlight of this release is the addition of four ultra-rare bonus tracks on Side 4, previously unreleased on the original album. The tracks from the *BORNAGAIN! EP*—conceived for promotional purposes in 1998 but previously available only digitally—have been pressed onto physical media for the first time. This expanded edition holds immense archival value, capturing the passion of the original production. Mastered anew from the original masters by PHILKINRADE at AIRSTUDIOS, this 2026 debut analog release embodies the pinnacle of sound engineering. Presented on translucent blue vinyl, this stunning two-disc set encapsulates the full scope of the aesthetic they ultimately achieved.
