Grand Funk Railroad, an American hard rock band that formed in the late 1960s and made their big breakthrough in the mid-1970s, would release their 1973 album "We're An American Band" produced by Todd Rundgren. The album also reached No. 2 on the U.S. Singles Chart. The following year, 1974's "Shinin'On" was also produced by Todd Rundgren, and the single "The Loco-Motion" was also a hit, reaching No. 1 on the U.S. singles chart, and the album also reached No. 5 on the U.S. charts. This led to the "Shin 'On Tour," a 41-show U.S.-exclusive tour. The June 2 performance in San Diego, California was recorded and broadcast as a PBS radio program for promotion, and this live album includes the cover song used for the broadcast and the encores.The band's energy was at its peak, and the performance was powerful and full of energy.
