Description:

Formed in 1961 by Pete Ham and Tom Evans, the Ivies signed with Apple Records, the Beatles' label, and released their first album, "Maybe Tomorrow", in 1968. However, for various reasons, the album was not released in the U.K. and the U.S... The band changed their name to Badfinger in order to make a fresh start, and their single 'Come And Get It', released in 1970, became a Top 10 hit on the US singles chart, partly because it was used as the theme song for a movie starring Ringo Starr. The single 'No Matter What' from their second album 'No Dice', released in the same year, reached No. 8 on the U.S. Singles Chart. The song 'Without You', which was not released as a single, later became a big hit, sung by Harry Nilsson and Mariah Carey. The band's third album, "Straight Up," was released in 1971 with George Harrison and Todd Rundgren as producers, and became a hit, peaking at No. 31 on the U.S. album chart with the hit single "Day After Day. The following year, in 1972, the band toured the U.K. and North America, playing a total of 106 shows. The April 7 concert in Kansas City, Missouri was recorded for a live album and a radio program, which was broadcast on PBS (in the US), although the live album was not released. This album is a live album using the sound sources used for the broadcast, and the set list of the day is a complete recording of the concert including cover songs and encores. The live performance, which mainly consisted of songs from the new album and the previous album, also proved that Badfinger was a great live band. The band then stalled due to label transfers, legal problems, and various other troubles. This live album from the band's brightest period is a rarity! Includes three additional bonus tracks from the August 10, 1973 show in London.
