Formed in 1991 by Jonas Rencks (vo) and Anders Nyström (g), Katatonia moved from the pioneers of the black/death/doom metal movement into the progressive metal rock genre. City Burials", their eleventh studio album, in 2020. The band will release their latest live album "Dead Air - Live at Grondahl Studio 2020" in 2020. Katatonia abandoned their death metal vocal style in 1998 with the release of the "Saw You Drown" EP, and switched to a clean vocal style. The subsequent release of "Discouraged Ones" caught the attention of Peaceville Records, and the band made their major label debut with "Tonight's Decision" in 1999. Since then, the band has continued to grow as an internationally known progressive metal band, repeatedly changing members and releasing four studio albums and a live album.And this album, "Dead Air - Live at Grondahl Studios 2020," is the fifth live album and was recorded live at Grondahl Studios in Stockholm on May 9, 2020, for streaming in lockdown conditions. Twenty songs were performed in the 88-minute live performance, which was composed of songs requested by fans from around the world. Three songs from "City Believers" ("The Winter of Our Passing," "Rucker," and "Behind the Blood") were performed for the first time. The lockdown was a major blow to artists around the world. While accepting the reality of not being able to perform live on tour, this live album is a must-listen for fans of the band, produced in defiance of the situation. Imported domestic edition with bilingual English commentary and obi.
