Born in Hamburg in 1824 and died in Leipzig in 1910, Reinecke lived to be 85 years old, a long life for his time, and was for a long time a leading figure and a powerful voice in the German music world. In fact, however, he was unable to keep up with the times in his later years, and it is said that many new composers received harsh criticism from him. His own works were also largely forgotten after his death. In this album, we can listen to his three cello sonatas and "Three Pieces," all of which have beautiful melodies and sometimes experimental elements. It is a real shame that they have been unjustly forgotten. Austrian virtuoso Martin Rummel, who has been making efforts to revive "forgotten works" of classical music, sings them with all his heart.
