Julian Bream (1933-2020), a world-renowned guitarist from England, actively performed not only Spanish music, which constituted the core of his guitar repertoire, but also works from his own country. These included music of the English Renaissance and many works commissioned by his contemporaries. Graham Anthony Devine, one of the great guitarists of contemporary England, has once again honored Bream's greatness by introducing these works to the 21st century. Following the first collection, which includes works by Walton, Rawthorne, and Berklee, the second collection includes the Dowland works that Bream loved to play, which he also played on the lute himself, Britten's masterpiece "Nocturne on Dowland," which was written at Bream's request, and two works by John Rutter, one of the leading contemporary British composers. The program also includes two works by John Rutter, a world premiere recording of Cyril Scott's Sonatina, which Bream revised, and Nicholas Maw's epic work, Music of Memory. Naxos Japan
