Simon Rattle、Bavarian Radio Shymphony Orchestra

Description:

Rattle & Bavaria's "Coro", an astonishing live performance is now available on CD! Rattle's repertoire is strongly oriented toward contemporary music, and this Berio piece is one of the most frequently performed works in his repertoire. Rattle has also conducted "Coro" with the Berlin Philharmonic in 2010 and at the Lucerne Festival in 2014. The recording here is a live performance from the fall of 2023, when Rattle began as principal conductor of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra and Chorus, and when one considers that Mahler's Sixth, Haydn's Creation, and Mozart's Idomeneo were also recorded on CD between September and December of the same year, the result is The "Coro" is a very beautiful piece of music. The "Coro" combines the poetry of Nobel Prize-winning poet Pablo Neruda with melodies and rhythms taken from folk music from around the world, and is performed here in a revised version with 31 episodes. It is an extremely complex and intricate work, but Rattle's characteristic is that the more complex the piece is, the more strength it shows. The arrangement of one choir member and one orchestral player in pairs (40 pairs in total) must have been very difficult both in the performance space and in the recording, but his grasp of the music, combined with the high ensemble ability of the orchestra and choir, produced an outstanding performance., Slovenian composer Vito Juraj's "Automatones Automatones" was commissioned by the Bavarian Radio, and this is a live recording of the premiere performance. Automatones are artificial figures and animals from Greek mythology. They are said to have been so elaborately made that they behaved as if they had life. Juraï uses this as a metaphor for AI, depicting its accelerating evolution through ever-rising sound patterns and accelerating rhythms, and presenting a world fraught with dangers that could lead to catastrophe.
