A Nocte Tempolis, a group that has produced numerous albums of French Baroque vocal works for ALPHA and Ricercar, with the renowned singer Reinaut van Mechelen at the helm. A Nocte Tempolis, which has produced numerous albums of French Baroque vocal works for ALPHA and Ricercar with the renowned singer Reynout van Mechelen at the center, combines Rameau's popular "Pygmalion" with the enigmatic composer Izzo's "Semide" from the same period. The story of Pygmalion, a young sculptor who falls in love with a statue of a woman he has carved, and the sculpture comes to life and speaks, was commissioned by Madame de Pompadour, the official mistress of King Louis XV of France, and was made into a one-act musical opera by Rameau in 1748. A few years later, the Italian Opera Company visited France, and the Bouffon controversy over the difference and superiority of musical styles caused a commotion that divided the Parisian debaters, and in the process, the young composer Izzo's "Semide" in one act was given the opportunity to perform on the grand stage of the Royal Music Academy Theater (commonly called "Opera House").The leading singers, including conductor Van Mechelen and popular singer Blondale, sang the unique roles well alongside the beautiful voice of Emma Nikolowska as the princess who plays the main character, and the instrumental ensemble, including a string orchestra with a thick 3/3/4/4/1 middle and bass register, and the close ensemble played the role of Rameau. The ensemble's fine harmonic technique, which was unique to France during the Rococo period, is evident in this masterful performance. The instrumentalists include Anna Besson on flute, Hayasuke Kawai on oboe, and Loris Valucan on clavecin, all of whom are known for their individual talents. This is a disc that will bring you in touch with the interpretation of French classical music at the forefront of French music. Naxos Japan
