Folk songs and folk music have been and continue to be a source of inspiration for composers. This album contains a variety of works based on folk songs from all over the world, and each piece seems to have a melody unique to that region. Anya Alexeev was born into a musical family in Moscow, and after studying at the Gnessin Music School and the Moscow Conservatory, she went on to study at the Royal College of Music in London. She has won numerous awards and performed at major London concert halls as well as world-class venues such as the Berlin Philharmonic, the Vienna Konzerthaus, and the Teatro Colon. He has performed with orchestras such as the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, and St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra. With a repertoire ranging from baroque to contemporary music, the orchestra premiered Paul McCartney's suite "A Leaf" in 1995. He is known for his passion for discovering new and unusual works.
