Description:
A recording project of all 72 cantatas composed for the 1714/15 church cycle (liturgical cycle), a series on the cpo label dedicated to the revival of Telemann's works. The cantatas feature elements of French dances and a fusion of solo parts and biblical verses reminiscent of operatic arias. The fourth collection includes 10 cantatas. Although there are meditative moments in both, the cantatas, which were written for the music of the season of waiting and for the ordinary Sundays of the church calendar, are rich in color throughout and accurately convey the core message of the service with texts by the pastor and poet Ertmann Neumeister (1671-1756). The text is by Ertmann Neumeister (1671-1756), a pastor and poet. The symphonia in the middle of the piece, "The Beauty of the Dawn Star," TWV 31:37, was written between 1735 and 1740, during Telemann's Hamburg years. Originally intended for organ, it has been arranged here in a style suitable for the ensemble on this album. The project, conducted by Felix Koch, will be performed by the Gutenberg Soloists, a vocal ensemble organized by young singers selected for the project, along with veteran singers with a proven track record in baroque singing.
