André Izoard (1935-2016), one of the leading French organists of the 20th century, inherited the tradition of French organ playing from the lineage of César Franck and Marcel Dupré, and nurtured many talented young musicians such as Michel Bouvard and Emmanuelle Aym, while also possessing deep knowledge of organ construction and having been involved in building new masterpieces around the world. He has also been involved in the construction of new masterpieces in various parts of the world. His recordings of Bach's complete works for solo organ, which took more than 15 years to complete from 1975, have been critically acclaimed around the world since their initial release and have won numerous awards. Calliope, the label on which the recordings were first released, has pressed and reissued the recordings since the LP era, and they have attracted a large number of people.This new edition includes 15 CDs from the Complete Works series, plus a new recording of the 1999 "Technique of Fugue" for solo organ, allowing the listener to enjoy the wonders of Izoard's interpretation of Bach in an even broader range of forms. (All 16 CDs have been newly remastered for this boxed set.) All six organs are by German builders, including some that Izoard himself built and some historical 18th-century instruments. The booklet includes interviews with the performers, which touch on their memories from their training and career development, their thoughts on interpreting Bach, as well as photographs and registrations of all instruments used (French and English/no Japanese commentary). In addition, photographs of all instruments used and registrations are provided (in French and English, without Japanese commentary).
