Golda Schulz's Mozart with Manacorda's sense of style Golda Schulz, a South African singer who is making great strides not only on the European opera stage but also in recitals of songs, has collected famous scenes from three important operas of Mozart's late period. Although she plays the leading role in this collection of arias, she also ambitiously selects some rather large-scale ensembles and duets. The fact that many of the soloists on the album are up-and-coming singers of the new generation who are now attracting attention also shows the high expectations that the entire scene has for Golda Schulz. Throughout the album, her singing is extremely dramatic, but her sensitive expression is also outstanding, and her deep understanding of the works can be seen through the true dialogue and emotional portrayal by the ensemble. The high level of insight in constructing a meaningful album while keeping an eye on the overall story of each opera is similar to that of the preceding album (ALPHA799), a collection of songs by female composers from the past, present, and future. Under the direction of Antonello Manacorda, who has been attracting a great deal of attention with his recent series of performances in Japan, the orchestra will give us a unique image of Mozart in the 21st century, together with the Kammerakademie Potsdam, which will sound an outstanding interpretation based on 18th-century techniques.
